Homemade Oatmeal Bread (Домашній хліб) is a favorite of ours at our dinner table.

  • 2 Cups of Warm Water
  • 2 tsp of Sugar
  • 2 tsp of Dry yeast
  • 2 tsp Salt
  • 3 Tbsp of Cream of Wheat Hot Cereal
  • 2 Tbsp of Olive Oil
  • 4½ Cups of sifted flour
  • 1 cup of oat meal
  • 1 cup of Boiling Water
  1. ) First, in a large bowl add your water, sugar, and yeast. Mix well and let it sit for 10 minutes. After, add salt, olive oil, and cream of wheat hot cereal. Mix together well. Then, pour your boiling water into the oat meal and let it sit for 5 minutes. Then pour your oat meal mixture into your large bowl and mix well.
  2. ) Add your flour into the large bowl and mix together well until you have a dough. Cover it with a clean rag and let it rise for 2 hours. While it's rising mix it every now and then.
  3. ) Add your dough into an oiled cake form and sprinkle some oat meal on top. Preheat your oven to 250ºF and bake the bread for 15 minutes, after set your oven to 350º and bake for 45 more minutes. Take out your bread let it cool down and enjoy!
